PayGo, a cloud-based, utility customer engagement and payment software company for the utility industry announces the company has been named a Gartner Cool Vendor in Energy & Utilities 2015. PayGo is one of three companies to be recognized this year, globally.<\/p>

Each year, Gartner identifies new \u201cCool Vendors\u201d in key technology and industry sectors and publishes a series of research reports evaluating these innovative vendors, their products and services. As one of the world\u2019s leading information technology research and advisory companies, Gartner defines a Cool Vendor as a company that provides technologies or solutions that are innovative, impactful and intriguing.<\/p>

The Gartner research discusses \u201cinnovative solutions that address tough challenges such as persistent cybersecurity threats and the integration of highly complex and distributed energy resources\u201d and \u201cexplores explore new opportunities offered by general purpose consumer technologies such as smartphone-based image capture and payment mechanisms.\u201d<\/p>

Gartner Cool Vendor Research Findings \u2013 Overview<\/h4>

Integrating general purpose consumer technologies (such as mobile payment mechanisms) with legacy customer information systems can boost utility customer satisfaction while minimizing implementation risks.<\/p>

From the IT standpoint, a cloud-based offering enables functional extension of the CIS application without modifying the CIS product itself (which is usually dependent on vendor development roadmaps) or developing an on-premises, bolt-on payment solution.<\/p>

Recommendations<\/h4>

CIOs and utility business leaders in customer service should leverage mobile apps and Internet based payment services as a way of extending legacy customer information systems without expensive modifications.<\/p>
